Raindrops are Falling on My Head
Another pattern from book 4 of my favorite EPP designer Willyne Hammerstein. I used fabric from Connecting Threads all in red tones. The fabrics inspired me to make all the possible fussy combos I could imagine ~ actually tried my best to get every piece different from the other. Quite a bit of a challenge to shop online because I can’t really pick and choose as I come up with designs on my head. I’m not sure if you have the same dilemma or maybe it’s just me. On the onset of putting my geometric shapes together I came to a realization that they were a bit on the tiny side. This would be my first small quilt I have ever made.
Started sewing this right before COVID happened actually it was I believe a week before lockdown in NYC happened. As the whole world went upside down so did my project … the anxiety, the nervousness, the uncertainty and all that unpleasant emotion hindered my ability to create. I thought, OK, I will have more time to finish this but nooooooo ~ every time I try to start sewing something that needs to be dealt with drops right infront of me. The only good thing was I have more than enough material to finish this. Hours, days, weeks and months past and I was just so thankful and blessed that my family didn’t get COVID. Now we are completely based and boosted maybe I can relax a little bit?
So here is my finished project a little bit on the smaller side but hey, I love it! To hand quilt or to machine quilt that is the hardest decision I always encounter and I keep on flipping back and forth. Ding ding ding…. Hand quilt it was! Gave me memories of how my Mom use to hand quilt all her quilts made me sad, made me miss her more but most of all made me happy that I was there to experience how she created things “ beautiful pieces” always no matter how simple it looks she makes it so sophisticated and stunning. I decided to keep this quilt for myself won’t be seen on my shop at all. Enjoy the pics!
